Jomari as Blogging
According to Russ Alfonso in his interview with Entrepreneur magazine, “Internet usage is expected to grow 23 percent annually to reach 21.5 million by [the end] of 2008. Filipino Internet users on average spend 2.3 hours per day checking e-mail, 1.6 hours on online community activities, 2.7 hours on instant messaging, and 3 hours on other Internet activities. Forty-eight percent of Internet users are within 20 to 28 years old and 44 percent are 30-40 years old.” So, what does this figures tells us? It tells us that with the continuous increasing number of internet users, internet business will also continue to rise. And if you noticed, it’s pretty obvious with the constant growth of establishments offering free WiFi access, the ever growing lists of online social networking sites and the growing number of Pinoy bloggers jumping in the field of making money online.
Today, the internet is providing people the opportunity to become their own boss by running their own home based business. The rise of internet business is what everybody should take advantage of. It is a business that is available for everybody. No age requirements, as proven by the youngest Pinoy blogger at 13 years old, CarlOcab. Internet business is also a great opportunity for the 33 million unemployed Filipinos (according to NSO, April 2007).
The internet business is one of the businesses you can start without much capital. All you need to start your own internet business is a computer and an internet access. Would you believe that I put up Pinoy Raket Online with just Php1050 capital? I started PinoyRak just last month and registered the domain name at Php550 and hosting service for Php500. My domain expires in one year and my hosting plan is good for 6 months. I can’t give out the exact figures of the money I earned with PinoyRak, as this project is just barely one month old and haven’t reached the stage of a fully monetized blog. But slowly, I’m making money with Google Adsense as PinoyRak progresses. Wohoo! Also, I’m proud to say that I’ve earned somewhere between $300 from my PTC programs alone since I started last March. Not bad huh? And to think I’m just doing this as a raket or sideline after I’m done doing my work as Graphic Designer/Layout Artist for a small publication business of ours.
I hope every Pinoy reading this who aren’t currently into making money online will take this opportunity into account. With the emerging companies like BlogBank, the first Philippine online advertising company and WiGO, a free broadband service in most popular coffee shops, commercial areas and restaurants all over Metro Manila, a profitable boom in the internet business is bound to take place in our country.
My prediction is that in as short as two years time, a number of Pinoys will embrace the future of internet marketing. Blogging will become the next source of making extra income for the younger generation. As these kids are now more techie, and they have grown together with the rise of the internet. And together with the ever booming internet business, Pinoy Raket Online will be there to provide the necessary information and tips for every Filipino who wants to take a shot at this online money making. Also, I’m excited to announce that in the coming days, PinoyRak will not only be limited to making money with GPT programs. PinoyRak will expand it’s scope to internet affiliate marketing to putting up and monetizing a blog. So, no more excuses Pinoy! Take part and get your piece of the pie.

Thanks for linking back bro. See you around.
500 pesos for hosting? Google Apps Engine will provide you with 5Gig/mo worth of traffic for free. With sharding you can even get 100Gig/mo… And its all running on Google’s HA servers.
Yeah, there is no excuse not to have online business now a days, all you need to start is provided for free.

Thanks for your comment godie.
If Google Apps Engine is that good why is your blog still hosted free using blogger?
Just wondering bro. You got us all confused.
saan ka po hosted, and how much per month? and ung sau po for 6 months yun? ano pong payment option?
dami ko tanong… curious eh.
My blog is hosted at philhosting.net
My plan is for P100/mo at 500mb storage and 5gb bandwidth. Pwede 6 months katulad sa akin. Pero yung domain registration you need to pay for 1 year.
A word of advice though, hindi okay support nila.
I forgot payment options: Bank deposit or thru paypal. Mine is thru bank deposit with BDO. I suggest mag-selfhosted blog ka na.

Visit mo yun site. Satisfied naman ako sa hosting ko.
mine is hosted sa blogger. does that make any difference?? hope you can shed some light. thanks.

Hi there Pinay Mommy!
It makes alot of difference.
First is branding. Having your own domain always increases your branding levels in the web world, but in the free hosted blogs you have no branding options.
Second is SEO friendliness. The URL structure and other SEO friendly options can be adjusted in such a way which will be liked by the search engines, and helps in better rankings. Before kase sa blogger din ako pero since may sarili na kong domain mas madami nagsesearch sa akin sa google so maraming hits sa mga tags ko.
Third is you can gain full control of you site design and function.
That’s it I think. Tska kung talagang desidido ka seryosohin ang pag-blog buy a domain name and host it.
actually i have my own domain na. what i mean doon sa hosting? kasi hinde na ako nag separate host from blogger. domain name lang binili ko kasi nga sa branding and it’s true may dating talaga.
kasi if i migrate my hosting out talaga from blogger…hirap noon. i don’t trust hosting companies. like my other one for my pmc forum. ay…hirap talaga ng customer service nila. inis ako. hehehe

I wanted to use WordPress kase kahit dati pa.
But then may domain name ka na I don’t think it’s necessary for you to move to WordPress lalo na kung mahihirapan ka. Just my unsolicited advice.
I trust my hosting company naman. Panget nga lang support. LOL.
Thank you for this information.I hope you continue giving good advices on this matter.

See you around po. I got a priest blogger visiting my site! Yay!
I hope we can maintain our status as a country that has a high rate of computer literacy. Other nations are trying to catch up. We need to double up on our efforts to make sure that we stay in the lead.

Tama ka dyan brods. We need to capitalize sa literacy ng Pinoy pagdating sa computer.
Thank you sa comment. I’ll drop by your site. See you around.
Webhosting uptime is very important for me. So if you have to get a good hosting, get the best uptime server, I think dreamhost can provide maximum uptime, 99.99%. But of course you have to pay more.
