I’m thinking about link love is not enough to reward my loyal droppers so I decide to give some Entrecard Credits for the Top 10 Droppers who took time in visiting Pinoy Raket Online to drop their cards. The top 1 dropper gets 300 EC, the rest of the top 5 should get 200 EC, while the 6th to 10th place gets 100 EC respectively. I know it’s not that much but it would take you at least half an hour to earn 100 EC by dropping cards on other blogs.

I mentioned last time that Mommy Ruby’s Surf and Drop project contributed a lot in the number of my regular droppers and it’s been giving me decent amount of hits ever since. Also Zriz’ Deranged Droppers have equally gave me decent hits. You should join the list if you haven’t already: Surf and Drop and Deranged Droppers. That’s it for now. Once again, thank you for your continued support, rest assured that I will always reciprocate your drops. Here is the list:

Just when we thought it was all about Manny Pacquiao and Charice Pempengco’s many achievements, along came the Philippine All Stars successful win at the 2008 World Hip-Hop Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada last August 3. During the elimination round held the day before the finals, the Philippine All Stars placed 1st against 12 teams from different countries that gave the multi-awarded dance crew the confidence to top the other competitors: 1. Philippine All Stars - Philippines, 2. Kaba Modern - USA, 3. Prestige - New Zealand, 4. Xtreme Soul Style - Canada, 5. Legacy - New Zealand, 6. Eclectik - Trinidad & Tobago, 7. Peridot - United Kingdom, 8. Black Soul - Mexico, 9. Flos Angeles - USA, 10. Release - South Africa, 11. Rockwell Family - Canada, 12. Phunk Phenomenon - USA.

More than 1,000 dancers from 33 countries gathered in Las Vegas in quest for the gold. The Philippine All Stars, however, ruled the dance floor with their two-minute performance packed with flips and steps in accord. When they received the award, group members said they were glad for the success as they united Filipinos in that moment of glory.

In the end, the three judges gave the Philippine All Stars an aggregate score of 8.94. A large part of the score (5.35) was earned by way of the group’s infusion of artistic steps in their choreography.

And to that, competition judge and multi-Gramy awardee MC Hammer said: “The Filipino artists…they continue to evolve in a global basis. They take art and dance seriously. I am very proud of the level that the Philippines over all have developed into.”

Pinoy Raket Online would like to congratulate the Philippine All Stars crew for bringing us the gold. You brought the gold for us in 2006 and you guys won it back this year. Yey! Keep making us proud! Below is the video of their winning performance.

Looks like the highly anticipated reunion concert of the Eraserheads has been getting a lot of negative feedback from the media because of their alleged sponsorship from a major tobacco firm – Philip Morris. Philip Morris already confirmed that their company is behind the sponsorship of the said event.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) and tobacco control advocates appealed to the Eraserheads to reject Philip Morris’ sponsorship of their one-night reunion concert that is set on August 30. DOH warned Philip Morris that they’d be charged with criminal offense if the concert pushes through. According to Republic Act No. 9211 or the Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003 which prohibits cigar companies from sponsoring sports, cultural, and artistic events of individual or team athletes, artists and performers. Ouch!

DOH Undersecretary Alexander Padilla made an appeal to the Eraserheads saying, “With their prestige, they should disassociate themselves to tobacco products which have no value or use. They should heed the law and bring the youth to other productive activities. Tobacco products should not be promoted.”

Eraserheads Fans Think that the Reunion Concert is Devious

If you can recall my previous post, Quick Update on the Eraserheads Reunion Concert and How to Get Tickets, I mentioned that in order to get tickets you have to visit the Marlboro website and sign-up for their Red List. I have signed up for the Marlboro Red List, as well as with the dozens of people who’ve read my post hoping to get tickets for the Eraserheads reunion concert. Although, I smoke Winston Lights and Marlboro is not my brand (Hahaha) I was hoping I’d get a free pass.

In my personal opinion, the fans who want to get free tickets to the concert should be more mature and responsible because signing up for the Red List requires you to fill in some personal information and by doing so, you agree to accept the condition that you are interested to receive “smoking-related” information and promotional materials from Philip Morris. That’s why I think the fans should be more intelligent. I had one commentator (Chorva) in my previous post who signed up for the Red List but isn’t a smoker, what she’s after for is to get a free pass. Now it is her decision once she receive a promotional material or email from the Red List if she’d be convinced to smoke tobacco or not, which I think she’s intelligent enough not to. Chorva gains because she gets a ticket and it’s Philip Morris’ lost because she doesn’t smoke. LOL.

The real problem with the Eraserheads reunion concert is that some of their fans are young and can easily be manipulated. The public knows the bad effects of smoking that’s why I sympathize with the Tobacco Control Alliance’s appeal to the Eraserheads to disassociate themselves from the tobacco firm and be used as a tool for deceitful marketing ploy. I also know (correct me if I’m wrong) that 3 members of the Eraserheads doesn’t smoke, so if they continue with their deal with Philip Morris, it defeats the purpose of their smoke free lifestyle.

If you are a Filipino and you haven’t heard of Team Manila shirts, you are missing out on a lot. I have been proudly rocking a Team Manila shirt for three years now since my first purchase at their store in Rockwell Makati. I own 12 shirts now and the number of my collection just keeps growing and it’s fast becoming an addiction. What makes Team Manila shirts uniquely Pinoy is their stylish cool designs, from our national icon – Jose Rizal rocking a Ray Ban sunglasses to silhouettes of our own folk dancers aptly titled United Tinikling Collective.

Who/What is Team Manila?

Team Manila is a graphic design studio based in the Philippines with an extensive portfolio of brilliant works in the field of broadcast and print design. While Team Manila is more popularly known for their Graphic Designed Lifestyle t-shirts, the range of their services isn’t only limited to apparel. In fact, they even worked with big names like Nike, Shoe Salon and MTV to name a few.

Pinoy Pop Culture Captured Vividly by Team Manila T-shirts

Team Manila shirts infuses a distinct Pinoy flavor in their work. They launched Graphic Design Lifestyle (GDL) to help Pinoys wear their nationalism on their sleeves, literally. GDL has been rocking since April 2005 and there’s no stopping it. Many have enjoyed their “Istambay Habang Buhay” tees and the classic “Manila” tee. The products represents the urban life and culture of its surroundings. From graphic interpretations of national icons to the everyday life on the street.

Graphic Designed Lifestyle apparel offers a lot besides t-shirts. There’s bags, wallets, stickers, pins, hoodies and clocks all with their own touch of Pinoy flavor you can most be proud of. You can also pimp out your kid’s clothing style by rocking them with Tiny Manila shirts. The “Kilabot ng Preschool” and “1 + 1 = Magellan, 2 + 2 = Lapu Lapu” design is something I would personally like my kid to wear. How simple yet brilliant their creations isn’t it?

The Graphic Design Lifestyle product intends to remind us of the unique qualities of the everyday: WEAR / COMMUNICATE / BREATHE / EXPERIENCE / LOVE / HATE / MANILA

Where to Grab a Team Manila Goodies

Their MAIN BRANCH now is located at 146B Jupiter St. Brgy., Bel-Air, Makati City. They also have a branch at Rockwell in Makati, R2 Level C8 & C9 Archeology Section, Power Plant Mall also in Makati City. They also have accredited resellers in parts of Luzon and i provinces like Bacolod, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Ilo-ilo, Laoag and Tuguegarao. You can check this link for the exact store location and click on dealer locator.

My Favorite Team Manila Shirt

Oh, my favorite shirt is my “Mang Eddie’s Vulcanizing Shop and Gotohan, Open 24 Hours.” I’ve been getting noticed a lot whenever I rock that crazy shirt, it’s fun and Pinoy in every shape, form and fashion. It may look cheap at first glance, like an ordinary Christmas give-away shirt but it depends on the person wearing it. LOL. By the way, each shirt costs P500 bucks, not too much if you’d ask me compared to branded shirts from the states like the usual Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister that is becoming played out nowadays. LMAO! Support our local designers and go grab your own Team Manila shirt.

If you enjoyed this post and you don’t want to miss out on the next one, you can subscribe by email and have new post sent directly to your email, don’t worry we all hate spam and Pinoy Raket Online doesn’t spam. And if you add Pinoy Raket Online as one of your favorite over at Technorati, then I’ll favorite you back in return.

Yep! You’ve read it right, I won 3 prizes in one contest over at Life is Colourful Blog Anniversary Contest. This is why I love joining blog contests – WINNING. LOL. Heck, even if you don’t win anything from these contests, just the experience and socialization you develop with other bloggers are a prize itself, so when you run your own contest in the future you’ll have an idea how to pull it off and you can invite those bloggers you’ve met as sponsors or participants.

Now, I didn’t won any cash prize but I won blogging resources tools and banner links instead which I prefer more because it would help me improve and promote Pinoy Raket Online. Here the list of the prizes I won:

- One copy of Direct Response Templates for Salesletters and Salesstickies by Carl “Kidblogger” ($37 value)
- One 125 x 125 banner link at Winning the Web by Gyutae Park ($50 value)
- One 125 x 125 banner link at Sueblimely ($30 value)

That’s a total of $117! What I’m excited about is that Direct Response Templates for Salesletters and Salesstickies from Carl Ocab. That product from a fellow Pinoy blogger looked promising. Also, I love the free 125 x 125 banner link from Winning the Web and Sueblimely. Anyway, congratulations to Life is Colourful on its anniversary and kudos for this wonderful contest!

I can’t blame us Pinoys with the rising anticipation of the biggest concert event in our country, Eraserheads is the only OPM band that mattered during the 90’s. Eraserhead’s music has sort of been the soundtrack of my life, I sang “Pare Ko” with all my heart when I first got my heart broken when I was 16, the song “Magasin” touched my sentiments in a unique way, “With a Smile” kept my spirits afloat when I’m depressed, while “Ang Huling El Bimbo” was an instant classic that captured the hearts of every Filipino. The list goes on and the influence that the Eraserheads made in our music industry cannot be overlooked.

So much for the teaser. LOL. Now the real question is where and how can we get a ticket for the Eraserheads Reunion Concert? Here’s some info I got from the Eraserheads mailing list from Villy Jay Villacorta, the husband of my cousin Xtina who guest posted the entry, The Rally Between “To Come Home” or “Not to Come Home” for the EraserHeads Reunion Concert. The said reunion concert will cost a whooping P10M for each Eraserheads member for a 45-minute set. Wow! It’s not surprising because Marlboro is sponsoring the event. Here’s the rest of the information:

Yes it’s true. It’s been in the works for several months na.

Marlboro is sponsoring this concert and paid each of the members a staggering

P10M each to do a full 45-minute set. This is the official announcement:

“No more blind items my dear friends. Yes. We are confirming it.

There is no point denying:

August 30, 2008 will be LEGENDARY!!!

The country’s most influential band ever will be reunited for ONE NIGHT ONLY.

This once in a lifetime experience will be staged at the CCP opengrounds.

Tickets are free and you can download it early August. Website to be announced.

ONE BRAND.

ONE BAND.

ONE NIGHT ONLY…

ERASERHEADS REUNION CONCERT!”

The tickets are free to download at the Marlboro website. There is no official press release yet if you can download tickets this early as the mailing list mentioned, “Tickets are free and you can download it early August”. But if you’re already itching to get your hands on the ticket, I guess you can signup now and be included in Marlboro’s “Red List”. Too bad you need to be 18 years old and older to join. You will also be asked to submit a scanned image of your valid ID to prove you are of legal age. After you’ve signed up the waiting period starts. My cousin and I will keep you posted on the recent developments of this event. So stay tuned.

She is now happily married and currently residing in Seattle Washington with her husband VJ and their lovely daughter Katrina Ysabel.

So it is true. The legendary band Eraserheads is having a 45-minute free reunion concert come August 30 at the CCP Grounds. The said band disbanded for six years and this upcoming occasion will most definitely mark a milestone in the Philippine music industry.

Kudos to friends who responded on my bulletin posts in Friendster and Myspace. (My Hubby heard the reunion concert as a rumour in his Eheads Yahoo Group. I then, posted and asked for confirmations from friends who might have heard valid information about this event on the earlier mentioned social networking websites.) These good friends of mine most of them in the Philippines, immediately shared facts which are absolutely handy as my Hubby and I are here in Seattle and have to make a decision whether we should come home to Manila for this reunion concert or, not to come home then.

Thus, I am posting this blog…as it is now the rally between “Yes” and “No”…

The first and foremost “Yes to come home” pro is NOW is the best time to show that Hubby and I are truly EHeads Aficionados! (Most especially hims!). Eventhough we now both reside outside the Philippines, we still patronize Filipino talents. We buy Tagalog DVD Films and CDs, read updates on Filipino artists, singers, and bands we like from their respective websites, even watch concerts of bands we like who tour here in Seattle, and we still watch Filipino TV programs through TFC regularly. And going back to being Eheads fanatic, we still often listen to their songs and have always wondered if the band will ever reunite. If there is any other way to stress how often we pull up their songs, then I would use that term! One weird fact though, some time a while ago, I had a hunch which I told my Hubby that EHeads will definitely get-together for a concert and we agreed then that when that happens, we will both come to Manila for that! Now my hunch is not just a hunch.

I could just imagine if ever we are able come to that concert…it would be a tremendously, exceptionally and insanely (in a good way) notable experience. I most definitely would get emotional and excited that it is going to be hair-raising for me…

So much for how elated I will be…

Well, according to one valid source, the said concert will be free! I have been to many, many concerts in my life. Most of them, of course, I have to pay for tickets. And I have been to a number of free shows as well. Let us just say that with my experiences, I would just rather pay for my tickets. Do not get me wrong, the best things in life are still free BUT if the involved performer/s could be categorized as “The Beatles of the Philippines” which is none other than Eraserheads…let me just quote one of my childhood friend, Loyva who was one of the firsts to fill me in on this event, “It will be a security and logistical nightmare given the expected turnout”. And I couldn’t agree more with Loyva for that.

Besides, my one and only sibling is planning to get married late next year. And that is one more important and practical reason for me and my family to come home in the Philippines and save money for that.

So as for now, we still are in a limbo. It would be nice to touch base as well with family and friends in August but it would be nicer to have a more planned and prepared trip going back home for a few weeks later on.

And to my friends, do keep us posted about this happening. We would want to be the first ones to know which website we can go to to get a chance to win these free concert tickets. And I thank you in advance.

Last week, I expressed my disappointment over PTC sites as a breeding ground for scammers. I got a few comments from other PTC members who shared the same experience like I do. It would be easy for me to generalize that all PTC sites are a scam, but I know it would be unfair to other PTC sites who are honest and have been paying their members properly. I think there are a hundred of PTC sites out there today and every other week at least one or two new PTC program comes out, only 5% of that number would survive the first 6 months of their operation. Out of those 100 PTC sites only 10% of them can be considered as a legitimate program to earn money online and one of them is IsabelMarco.

Last July 10 I have received yet another payment from IsabelMarco.com; my second successful cashout from them. I requested my cashout last May 23 and their TOS says you can receive your payment in 40 days for standard members. I got my money through my Alertpay account in 47 days and 7 days behind is not bad as long as I get my money. So I requested another $11 payout that day and I’m surprised to find out that they now have a Paypal payment option. IsabelMarco.com just keeps getting better, their site may look unprofessional and at times their ads are few but it’s okay with me especially now that I have an option to receive my money through Paypal, I won’t have a problem withdrawing funds from Alertpay. I might even advertise at their site when I receive my cashout via Paypal sometime in August to show my support for IsabelMarco because they deserve it. Now, if you haven’t signed up at IsabelMarco, then now is your chance. Just click on this signup link and please make me your referral because good karma comes back to you ten times fold. LOL. You can make at least $10 a month, I have 11 referrals and only 5 of them are active imagine if you have 20 active referrals you can make around a neat $30 a month.
