This entry was guest posted by my cousin Khristina Villacorta, a big fan of the Eraserheads and a true blue music junkie who listens to almost every genre of music from A Tribe Called Quest to Snow Patrol to Hed Kandi. She is now happily married and currently residing in Seattle Washington with her husband VJ and their lovely daughter Katrina Ysabel.
So it is true. The legendary band Eraserheads is having a 45-minute free reunion concert come August 30 at the CCP Grounds. The said band disbanded for six years and this upcoming occasion will most definitely mark a milestone in the Philippine music industry.
Kudos to friends who responded on my bulletin posts in Friendster and Myspace. (My Hubby heard the reunion concert as a rumour in his Eheads Yahoo Group. I then, posted and asked for confirmations from friends who might have heard valid information about this event on the earlier mentioned social networking websites.) These good friends of mine most of them in the Philippines, immediately shared facts which are absolutely handy as my Hubby and I are here in Seattle and have to make a decision whether we should come home to Manila for this reunion concert or, not to come home then.
Thus, I am posting this blog…as it is now the rally between “Yes” and “No”…
The first and foremost “Yes to come home” pro is NOW is the best time to show that Hubby and I are truly EHeads Aficionados! (Most especially hims!). Eventhough we now both reside outside the Philippines, we still patronize Filipino talents. We buy Tagalog DVD Films and CDs, read updates on Filipino artists, singers, and bands we like from their respective websites, even watch concerts of bands we like who tour here in Seattle, and we still watch Filipino TV programs through TFC regularly. And going back to being Eheads fanatic, we still often listen to their songs and have always wondered if the band will ever reunite. If there is any other way to stress how often we pull up their songs, then I would use that term! One weird fact though, some time a while ago, I had a hunch which I told my Hubby that EHeads will definitely get-together for a concert and we agreed then that when that happens, we will both come to Manila for that! Now my hunch is not just a hunch.
I could just imagine if ever we are able come to that concert…it would be a tremendously, exceptionally and insanely (in a good way) notable experience. I most definitely would get emotional and excited that it is going to be hair-raising for me…
So much for how elated I will be…
Well, according to one valid source, the said concert will be free! I have been to many, many concerts in my life. Most of them, of course, I have to pay for tickets. And I have been to a number of free shows as well. Let us just say that with my experiences, I would just rather pay for my tickets. Do not get me wrong, the best things in life are still free BUT if the involved performer/s could be categorized as “The Beatles of the Philippines” which is none other than Eraserheads…let me just quote one of my childhood friend, Loyva who was one of the firsts to fill me in on this event, “It will be a security and logistical nightmare given the expected turnout”. And I couldn’t agree more with Loyva for that.
Besides, my one and only sibling is planning to get married late next year. And that is one more important and practical reason for me and my family to come home in the Philippines and save money for that.
So as for now, we still are in a limbo. It would be nice to touch base as well with family and friends in August but it would be nicer to have a more planned and prepared trip going back home for a few weeks later on.
And to my friends, do keep us posted about this happening. We would want to be the first ones to know which website we can go to to get a chance to win these free concert tickets. And I thank you in advance.

the concert is free??? as much as i want all Eheads fanactics (like me) to see this for free, isn’t it also nice to pay for tickets? if the band doesn’t want to have the money then why not donate it to some charity or help other independent musicians? i’m worried about the security of the people. i’ve been to some free concerts and nakakatakot yung ibang mga taong pumupunta. maraming nananamantalang mga miron.
wala lang, opinion lang po.

yes its a free concert BUT you have to register to a specific website and then, that will be your chance to get your free tickets. i think though, they still have not told the public yet as to which website is that. so when people register to that website, they have to provide personal infos and that is where the producers will earn money! and besides, just visiting the website where we need to register for tickets is one way for producers to make mulla as well!
