It’s been a while since I joined a blog contest. The last one was with General Marketing Blog where I won 1 Wiki Page, 125X125 Banner Ad for a month and 250 Entrecard credits. I was looking forward to win cash but hell there we’re hundred participants and I still consider myself lucky enough to get something from it considering it’s my first time joining a contest. So here I go again trying my luck and rooting for that custom blog design worth $500 from Pixel Jig.
I know there’ll be a bunch of others hoping to get their hands on that $250 cash, but I’m thinking long term that’s why I want that custom blog design. But if I win that $250 cash then I’ll get me an iPod Touch and treat my friends to rounds of beer and food. Wishful thinking. LOL. Below are the list of prizes and the mechanics. I started to raise my level one notch higher by engaging myself to start a blog.. I’m a complete beginner and I desperately need your help…I signed up to blogspot.com and wordpress.com. I wrote few articles already..but, but why the hell can’t I see my blog site when I search for it in google or any search engines? Sigh, I’m completely at lost…

Lesson number 1 bro: Do not lose hope.
When you start a blog you should not expect it to be noticed all of a sudden, give it some time to grow. This blog would you believe, is not yet indexed by google and yahoo but I’ve been getting a few hits from them slowly and starting to get noticed. It takes time to get noticed in the WWW if you’re using a free hosted blog. But trust me bro, you’re on the right track. I also started blogging in a free hosted platform like blogger. When I was ready to get serious about blogging, I bought a domain name and hosting.
All of the lessons you will learn from starting your first blog will benefit you in the long run. Don’t lose hope bro. Read some ebooks from successful people who’ve made it big with blogging. I suggest you download an ebook from John Chow. It’s free and you can download it from his site.
It’s taking me too long to put up a guide on how to start a blog for newbies. I had to take care of my responsibilities as a Graphic Designer in our family owned publication business and the demands for my time and attention is needed especially at this season. But I promise I will come up with a 5 part guide on how to do it from the scratch when time permits. I wanted to be very useful that’s why I can’t rush it or it will be half-baked.
PS. You can check out my first and second blog hosted on blogger, you will notice that I hardly get any comments and love. I can completely relate to your struggle. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes it will teach you a lesson that will be useful for your journey to blogging.

I read some ebooks about starting a blog and those ebooks never mentioned anything about being index to search engines. I thought all the while that if you are going to start a blog it can be seen right away when you search it thru any search engines…Gee whiz, I never thought and it’s pretty hard to believe that your site was not yet indexed by google or yahoo, to think that your site (this site) is filled with info rather than advertisements.
You know what dude, this is the first time I heard about the term “index” in relation to blogging. Thank you.

Yep. It takes at least 3 months before the WWW recognizes your blog. I already submitted my blog to google for indexing and it’s almost a month and I haven’t been indexed. But it’s okay. mag-2 months old pa lang naman blog ko eh. I don’t even have an Alexa ranking yet.
